2017 Honda Civic: it continues to stand out

2017 Honda Civic: it continues to stand out

The Honda Civic has been the best-selling car in Canada for nearly 20 years now, and with every new generation, the Honda compact has been able to stand out and innovate while retaining the characteristics that drive its continued success.

Last year, the 2017 Honda Civic entered the market with a brand new design, several new versions, even more safety, and an engine lineup that is even more efficient. It's not surprising that it remains so popular.

New engines for the 2017 Honda Civic

Available starting at $ 16,490, the 2017 Honda Civic is offered with two engines, including a brand new turbocharged engine that offers more power than the entry-level engine but is also more fuel efficient. That said, the both engines offered in the 2017 Honda Civic are impressive when it comes to fuel-efficiency.

Let's first take a look at the standard engine found in the 2017 Honda Civic. The four-cylinder unit develops 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque. This engine is more powerful than the majority of the standard engines available in this segment and is also one of the most fuel-efficient with an average fuel consumption rating of 7.8 liters per 100 kilometers in the city and 6.0 liters 100 kilometers on the highway.

The other engine available as an option on the sedan and standard on the Hatchback version that we will cover in a subsequent text is a four-cylinder, turbocharged 1.5-liter unit. As stated earlier, this engine is more powerful with its 174 horsepower and 162 lb.-ft. of torque, but it is also more fuel-efficient with an average fuel consumption rating of 7.4 liters per 100 kilometers in the city and 5.6 liters per 100 kilometers on the highway.

While the 2.0-liter engine can be paired with a six-speed manual or a continuously variable automatic, the turbo engine is only available with the CVT automatic transmission in the sedan. The Coupe and Hatchback versions can accommodate the manual transmission with the turbo engine, however.

There is a 2017 Honda Civic for all your needs

We talked a bit about the different versions of the 2017 Honda Civic in the previous paragraphs. This year, the Civic range is more complete than ever before with three versions offered to buyers starting with the sedan. There's also the two-door Coupe version and the new Hatchback, a five-door Civic that offers improved handling combined with more than 700 liters of cargo space!

With its numerous versions, and powerful and efficient engines, the 2017 Honda Civic will fulfill all your needs. Contact us today at Edmundston Honda to book your test drive!
